Dave Williams

Dave Williams

After many years of manipulating digital images for various creative effects, Dave Williams felt a need to revert back to his roots of landscape photography. In the late 70’s it was popular to experiment with the effects on recording with natural lighting using filters and different film types including the use of infrared film. Since the demise of many film types with the introduction of digital media, most experimentation today takes place post capture.
This series of images is a visual illustration of the effect of limiting the bandwidth of light available during capture, in particular limiting the spectrum to infrared and red only. Virtually no post capture manipulation has taken place to any of the images.
This series of landscape images is a throwback to a style of photography taken 30 years ago. The limited spectrum used not only produces images of high contrast, but also softening and posterisation. It also gives the viewer a visual representation of the landscape that cannot be seen with the human eye.
